Lively is set to make her feature directorial debut with Seconds for Searchlight, an adaptation of the graphic novel byScott Pilgrimcreator Bryan Lee O’Malley.

The movie is about a mom blogger, played by Kendrick, as she tries to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of her best friend, played by Lively. A Simple Favor received praise for its dark humor and shocking twists and turns at every step. While A Simple Favor wrapped up its storyline satisfactorily, it did leave the door open for a sequel. Emily goes to prison for 20 years at the end of the film, with Stephanie becoming a private detective and opening her own agency dedicated to solving cold cases.
For the enigmatic Emily , suits serve as “armor,” says the film’s costume designer Renée Ehrlich Kalfus. These pinstriped sets are from Ralph Lauren’s archives; the walking stick belongs to director Paul Feig. A Simple Favor also starred Linda Cardellini, Henry Golding, Jean Smart, Rupert Friend, Andrew Rannells, and Dustin Milligan, but there is no word on their involvement in the sequel yet. In true Gone Girl fashion, Emily’s luxurious life twists into madness after she goes missing, with Stephanie following the clues up until the bitter end. While Emily uses clothes for drama and obfuscation — particularly in a scene where she plays the perfect housewife — Stephanie’s looks reveal her character’s arc. As she becomes enthralled with Emily’s life, she begins to amp up the polish and sex appeal in her own look. But eventually, she lands on a style that merges her quirky aesthetic with high fashion.
